Huey Allen Miller, 89, formerly of Prairie Farm, passed away at Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Amery, on May 16, 2026. Huey was born to Emil and Mabel (Cole) Miller on December 1, 1936 in Prairie Farm and was the youngest of eleven children.

Huey graduated from Prairie Farm High School in 1954, after which he earned his elementary teaching degree from Normal School in Rice Lake.

Huey furthered his education at River Falls, and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Education which he used to teach first through eighth grades in the Prairie Farm area for two years until he joined the Army in 1958. Upon returning from the Army, Huey continued teaching for twenty-one years, first in Prairie Farm and then St. Paul, MN.

After retiring from teaching, Huey entered the restaurant business in partnership with Basil Burger in Faribault, MN. They operated their restaurant, named Basilleo's which specialized in pizza, from the mid 1970's until the early 1990's.

In retirement, Huey lived briefly in San Antonio, TX, and then in Murfreesboro, TN where he met many dear friends with whom he enjoyed years of card playing, entertaining, and traveling. Huey was known to always be ready to help others. He was loving, caring, humorous, and adventurous.

In January of 2021, Huey suffered a stroke due to Covid which, in April, brought him back to the Prairie Farm Pioneer Nursing Home where he lived for two years before its closure when he then moved to Willow Ridge Healthcare. His two remaining sisters, Marjorie Anderson and Betty Jackson, were so happy to have Huey back home in Wisconsin again.

Huey is survived by twenty-five nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Mabel; six brothers, Grant, Doyle, Dennis, Bill, Leland, and Larry; as well as four sisters, Violet Raven, Chloe Kahl, Marjorie Anderson, and Betty Jackson; and also, nine nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Moments Hospice Golden Valley, and Willow Ridge Healthcare for their care to our Uncle Huey during his last years.

A Memorial Service for Huey will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Prairie Farm. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning.
