In Memory of Inez E. Elliott
On Monday, May 23, 2022, at 3:00 AM the grandfather clock’s chimes were silenced in room 207 at Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake when Inez E. Elliott, 100, of Sarona died.
She was born June 10, 1921, in Spooner, WI to Nicolai and Elizabeth (Johnson) Nelson.
Inez attended Cable Grade School and graduated from Spooner High School in 1939.
She was married in Spooner, WI on June 22, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church to Stanley Elliott of Sarona who preceded her in death on December 1, 1998. They met while Stanley was wiring her parent’s home in rural Spooner. During their early years of marriage, Inez and Stanley moved to California until Stanely’s deployment to Europe during WWII; upon which time she returned to Wisconsin.
Inez worked as the Branch Manager of the Shell Lake State Bank, Sarona Station for 25 years. She was a very influential member of the Sarona Methodist church; volunteering in various positions ranging from Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, and an active member of the Ladies Aid. She had a heart to serve her community.
After retirement, Inez enjoyed spending time with her family (especially the grandkids), fishing, playing cards, and traveling. She made a trip to her father’s birthplace in Sweden; as well as trips to England, and Germany. She and Stanley also took bus trips around the United States. After Stanley's passing, Inez made multiple trips to Texas to visit family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Roger (Ellen) Elliott of Altoona, WI, and Robert (Wendy) Elliott of Austin, TX; son-in-law, Bruce Ellingson of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren; Mark (Ann) Elliott, Lisa (Chris) Miller, Aaron (Danica) Elliott; and Kevin (Molly Eagen) Ellingson; six great grandchildren: Morgan Miller, Cecelia Elliott, Idra Elliott, Levi Miller, Clarice Elliott, and Ty Elliott.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Elliott; daughter, Joyce Ellingson; granddaughter, Kjersten; two great grandsons: William and Nelson; siblings: Norman, Marven, Marbry, Elmer, Vernon, Leonard, Donald, and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 28, 2022 at United Methodist Church, Sarona, WI with Pastor Jean Waldron officiating. Burial will be in Sarona Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM at the church prior to the service.
Inez’s family wants to thank the wonderful staff of Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake for their loving care of Mom over the past two years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Sarona United Methodist Church.
