Irene Helen Glessing, 102, of Shell Lake died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Indianhead Medical Center. She was born November 17, 1915 to Anton and Rose (Hefter) Frey and married Elmer Glessing on December 24, 1936 in Shell Lake. She lived most of her life in Shell Lake except for a year in Glenco Illinois. They decided to farm and in June of 1948 moved to the farm in Bashaw where they lived and raised their family. Irene loved everything about the farm life and living along beautiful Valley View Road. She moved to West Side Monroe in November of 2011.

She is survived by her sons: Darrel (Pat) Glessing of St. Francis, MN, Donald (Barb) Glessing of Spooner, and Richard Glessing of Shell Lake; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 24 great great grandchildren; son in laws: Buzz (Sue) Drost and William Talbert; brother, Anton (Gloria) Frey; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, daughters: Doreen Drost and Annette Talbert; infant son Joseph; granddaughter Michelle; and grandson, Elmer Talbert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 22, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shell Lake, WI with Father Bala Showry officiating and burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ronald Talbert, William Talbert Jr., Duane Talbert, Jeremy Glessing, Darren Drost, and Daniel Drost. Honorary Pallbearers are Bradley Talbert, Jason Drost, Gerald Talbert, and Darrell Glessing, Jr. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the Mass on Thursday at the church.
