In Memory of James J. Burkart


December 2, 1941 - May 27, 2022

James “Jim” Joseph Burkart, born December 2, 1941 to George A. and Katherine Burkart in Detroit, Michigan, died May 27, 2022 in Osceola, Wisconsin.

Beloved husband of Mary for 57 years, devoted father to Catherine (Bruce) Oscarson, James (Jennifer) Burkart, Cynthia Burkart, Michael (Jennifer) Burkart and Christopher (Lauren) Burkart. Loving Grandpa to James, Joshua, Thatcher, Wyatt, Arlo, Ben and Katie. Loving brother to George (Ann) and John (Jan) and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceeded in death by parents, George and Katherine Burkart and brother, George Burkart.

Jim attended school at The Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan and graduated from the inaugural class of 1964 at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, where he met Mary. Together they raised their family in Holly, Michigan. Jim enjoyed spending time with family on the hobby farm, vacationing, downhill skiing, watching and coaching sports and supporting their cultural and 4-H events. Jim was a Little League coach and served on the ski patrol. Jim was a member of the Air Force Reserves. Jim worked in Labor Relations for Pontiac Motors for 42 years in Michigan. Jim loved being in the outdoors, helping neighbors and friends and most of all – he loved his family. Jim had a strong faith and was an active member of his church community. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren. Upon retirement, Jim moved with Mary to Osceola, Wisconsin to live along the St. Croix River.
