
In Memory of James “Jim” Greger
James “Jim” Greger, age 70, of Rice Lake, WI, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in Chetek, WI. He was born on October 13, 1954 in Eau Claire, WI to Paul and Roseanne (Monroe) Greger. Jim graduated from Bloomer High School, Bloomer, WI in 1973. He entered the United States Air Force as a weapons mechanic and was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant. He was married to Vicki Moskal on October 6, 1979 in Clear Lake, WI. Jim worked at Amsco-Quanex in Rice Lake for 34 years and retired in 2013. He was a very active veteran and was the Commander of the Rice Lake American Legion from 2016 until the present time. Jim put his love, sweat and tears into the Legion.
He loved playing poker, cribbage and dirty clubs, woodworking, collecting cards, going golfing, hunting and fishing, and testing his luck at the casino. Jim was a Wisconsin sports fanatic and enjoyed going to Lambeau stadium with his daughter. Jim was a jokester, prankster, wise cracker and loved to stir the pot. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family for his kindness, being interested in their lives, generosity and caring for others. Jim was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Nick O’Brian; a granddaughter, Avalyn; 2 brothers, (twin brother) Tim Greger (Kathy) and Steven (Betty) Greger; a sister, Cindy (Bob) Lockwood; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki Greger; and his parents, Paul and Roseanne Greger.
Graveside Services will be held at Noon, Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI, where Full Military Rites will be accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 starting at Noon at the Rice Lake American Legion.
