
In Memory of James “Jim” J. Shimon
James “Jim” Joseph Shimon, age 86, of Rice Lake, WI, died Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in Barron, WI. He was born on April 3, 1939 in Rice Lake to Charles and Margaret (Forest) Shimon.
Jim attended school in Rice Lake and entered the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged. He was married to Ann Hathaway on February 7, 1959 in Rice Lake. Jim was a heavy equipment operator for Local Union 139 for many years. He loved trap shooting, going out west hunting prairie dogs, buy/sell guns and working on his guns. He worked hard, played even harder and thanks to a beautiful wife he always had a place to go home to.
He is survived by 5 daughters, Debbie (Kim) Drost, Brenda Henck, Hedy Amundson, Carol (Roger) Berg and Jackie (Roy) Pedersen; 11 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; a sister, Maryann Myers; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Shimon; 2 sons-in-law, Terry Henck and Gary Amundson; his parents, Charles and Margaret Shimon; a brother, John “Jack” Shimon and a sister, Shirley Gavin.
A celebration of his life will be held from 11AM-1PM Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Dobie, WI, Father Ed Anderson officiating and where Full Military Rites accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard.
