In Memory of James L Carlson


July 17, 1954 - September 14, 2021

James (Jimmy) L. Carlson, age 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at SCRMC with family by his side.

James was born on July 17, 1954 in Shell Lake, WI.

He was adopted at 9 months old, with his twin sister, by Gideon and Alice (Johnson) Carlson. Later in life, James had the opportunity to meet his biological parents Ken & Nelly Love.

He lived in the Grantsburg area his whole life and graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1972 where he enjoyed being part of the wrestling team.

James married the love of his life, Carmen Anderson on June 28, 1975 in Alpha, WI. Together they raised their 3 children. He took pride in his farming, hauled cattle and had other various jobs throughout the years as well.

James enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His favorite pastime was taking as many grandkids as he could fit in his minivan and go “river hoppin’’ to see what they could catch fishing that day! His family was his pride and joy, and he wore his heart on his sleeve.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Gideon and Alice Carlson, Ken and Nelly Love; brothers, Daniel Carlson, Robert Love; sisters, Betty Davis, Maggie Love and Susan Love.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carmen; daughter, Amy; sons, Paul (Tanya) and Sam Carlson; grandchildren, Ashley, Felicity, Bridget, Aiden, Daniel, Thai, Haley, Zachary, Grady, Wyatt, Willow, Waylon and Waverly; great grandchildren, Micheal and Annalise; twin sister, Sandra (Janey) Carlson; sisters, Karyn Sollie, Mary Castle; brother, Wally Love; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 24th, 2021 from 3PM - 7PM at Hummer's Event Center in Grantsburg. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg.
