JAMES LAVERN DOORN, age 78, of Rice Lake, WI died on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Marshfield Medical Center, Marshfield, WI.

James was born Thursday, September 12, 1946 in Ladysmith, WI to Jake and Arlyle Doorn. He enlisted in the US Navy and served two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged at the rank of BU3. Jim was a Naval Sea Bee and received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Jim was transferred to the Naval Reserve and released from Active Duty. Jim was a home builder and carpenter for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and family.

He is survived by wife, Darlene Doorn; a son, Grant Doorn; a granddaughter, Audreane Doorn; a brother, Allan Doorn; sisters, Becky Suzan, Linda Gordon and Sandy Dantzman; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Baldridge; other in-laws, Denny & Sharon Thorhaug and Shirley Loomis; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Arlyle Doorn; father-in-law, Ken Baldridge; and other in-laws, Rod Loomis and Rod Ewert.

A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
