James Russell “Russ” Elmore, age 74, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at his residence in Springbrook, Wisconsin.  He was born October 6, 1942 in San Diego, CA, the son of James Lester Elmore and Mary Elizabeth Ford.  He was united in marriage to his soul mate Avis Ann Rosenlund on September 12, 1992 in Saugus, CA.

Russ retired from Lockheed Martin Aeronautical in Fort Worth, Texas as a Flight Simulation Integration Manager.  He worked with the Air Force and Navy on many fighter jet programs with the F117 and the F22 Raptor as two of the most challenging and successful programs over his career.  Russ was one of the several Lockheed employees responsible for working on the simulation presentation and winning of the government contract with the Secretary of Defense for the new JSF multinational fighter jet.

After his retirement, he helped with the building of a log home built from the harvested pines on their tree farm. He had dreamed of this home location while hunting with his Father in Law, Arne Rosenlund who had also had visions of a log home being built from his own Norway Pines.  The home was just finished when Arne Rosenlund passed away also on the tree farm in July 2009.

He was a preservationist for the oldest Norwegian Bygdelag, Valdres Samband which was organized in 1899 by immigrants from the Valdres Valley of Norway.   Many of his other interests included genealogy, stained glass art, woodworking and watching his trees grow.

He is survived by his loving wife, Avis Ann Elmore of Springbrook, WI; his mother-in-law, Mary Ann Rosenlund of Edina, MN and his beloved dog Sara, and cat Olaf along with many dear friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents.
