In Memory of Janet R. Burhop

November 18, 1941 - September 30, 2026

Janet R. Burhop, 84, of Turtle Lake, WI passed away at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery on September 30, 2026.

She was born in Sheboygan, WI, where she attended Ebenezer Lutheran School and Central High School. She married William Norman Burhop on September 24, 1960, in Sheboygan. Together, they moved to Lamartine, WI, in 1963, before making their final move to Turtle Lake, WI, in 1976. Janet spent 21 years working in accounts payable for the Barron Area School District. Bill and Janet spent many winters traveling to Arizona, Texas, and Florida with their fifth-wheel trailer and dogs, eventually finding a wonderful winter retreat in Englewood, Florida.

Throughout her life, Janet had a deep passion for raising, training, and showing dogs. Her many Shelties and Flat-Coated Retrievers were her loyal sidekicks. She spent countless weekends traveling to dog shows and trials all over the midwest with her daughter, Stacy, and later with her granddaughter, Nichole. She also dedicated many years as a 4-H dog leader in Polk and Barron counties.

When she wasn't with her dogs, Janet could regularly be found knitting or crocheting. She blessed her friends and family with an abundance of handmade hats, mittens, afghans, and sweaters over the years.

Janet is survived by her husband of 66 years, William “Bill” Burhop; their children, Scott (Annette) Burhop and Stacy (Richard) Webert; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Grandma" by Laci (Josh) Yeske, Cody (Samantha) Burhop, and Landon (Brittany) Burhop, and as "Nanny" by Nichole (Jordan) Webert and Andrei Webert. Her great-grandchildren—Brayden and Baylee Yeske, Brock Burhop, and Blake and Teagan Burhop—brought immense joy to her life.

She is further survived by her three brothers, Donald (Cindy) Schneider of Englewood, FL, Bruce (Mary) Schneider of Oxford, WI, and Steve (Marlys) Schneider of Englewood, FL; her brother-in-law, Carl Burhop; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Burhop.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
