Janice Marlowe, age 82, of Almena, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Janice was born on January 11, 1943 in Frederic, WI to William and Mabel (Johnson) Holte. She attended school in Amery where she met Dean Marlowe. Janice and Dean were married in 1961, and together they raised seven children. Janice enjoyed working at the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake, WI, where she would eventually retire from. In her mid-fifties, Janice received her driver’s license, which was a proud accomplishment for her.

Janice was a talented cook; some of her family’s favorites included her fried chicken, soup, deviled and pickled eggs. She was also a wonderful baker and would make bread, cakes and pies. Her baking and cooking were showed off at her family picnics and get-togethers. She loved spending time with her family—especially her children and grandchildren. Bailey, Janice’s dog, also held a very special place in her heart. Janice also enjoyed cleaning, fishing and gambling.

Janice had a feisty personality and was very witty; she would get a mischievous smile when being a trickster or telling jokes that would embarrass her family. Her sparkling personality and infectious smile will be very missed and were two things that she kept until the very end.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra Marlowe; grandsons, Brandan Marlowe and Jason Swanson; granddaughter, Heather Osborne; and her brothers and sisters.

Janice is survived by her husband, Dean; children, Cindy (Randy) Slack, Penny (Bill) Hecht, Dean (Lynn), Ron, Michael (Meghan), and Chris; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
