In Memory of Janice M. Johnson


July 10, 1935 - April 13, 2024

Janice Marlene (Olson) Johnson passed away on April 13, 2024, at Christian Community Homes in Osceola, WI.

She was born on July 10, 1935, to Clifford and Dagney (Antonson) Olson, at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Janice’s mother, Dagney, died when Janice was 2 years old and her father, Cliff remarried Elta Miley, when Janice was 6. Elta was the only mother Janice remembered.

Janice graduated from South St. Paul High School, in St. Paul, MN in 1953 and married Kenneth M. Johnson of Dresser, WI on January 17, 1958. She worked at the bank in Dresser for 32 years before retiring.

Jan (a Vikings fan) and Ken (a Packers fan) spent many years camping, until they purchased a cabin in Trego, WI. They had a lot of good times in those 21 years canoeing, tubing, and snowmobiling with family and friends.

Janice is survived by sister, Jean (Olson) Retka; nieces, Nancy (Olson) and Art Ledesma, Becky (Olson) and John Ludwig, Kathy (Retka) and Clifford “Bud” Odden, Nancy (Retka) and David Remer, Pat (Miller) and Larry Benitz; nephews, Steven Armel, John and Denise Retka, James and Jamie Retka, David and Lori Miller, and Michael and Michelle Miller; many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; god-children Nancy Ledesma, Greg Schrock, and Dana Stachowski.

She is preceded in death by her mother Dagney; father Clifford; stepmother Elta; husband Kenneth; brother Roland (and his wife, Mildred); sister-in-law Elaine (Johnson) Miller (and her husband Bernard Miller); brothers-in-law, Marion Armel and Russell Retka; nephews, Jon Olson (and his wife Linda (Kennedy) Olson, Eric Olson, and Kris Olson; and nieces, Bonnie Miller and Diane (Retka) Jacobson.

Memorial service for Janice will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 19, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church in Dresser, WI. Visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
