
In Memory of Janice M. Tahtinen
Janice Marie Tahtinen, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 in Cumberland.
Janice was born on October 14, 1943, to Charles and Harriet (Hattie) Bagley in Barron. Janice grew up in the area and graduated from Cameron High School in 1962.
On October 23, 1964, she married Albert Erickson, Sr. Albert and Janice lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a number of years, where she was the homemaker while Albert worked until his passing in 1972.
At that time, she and the children moved back to Wisconsin and moved onto Grandma and Grandpa Erickson’s home place in Almena. In 1977, Janice married Vern Tahtinen.
She worked various jobs throughout her life: Homemaker, nursing home assistant, bus driver for the disabled, and home care. Janice favorite past time was creating wonderful projects with plastic canvas and yarn. She made with love Christmas ornaments each year for all of the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also made many Kleenex boxes, photo albums, Barbie doll houses and furniture to name a few.
After Vern’s passing in 1991 and into retirement, she continued to make her home in the Almena area. In her later years, she became a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge in Rice Lake, where she achieved many rewards.
Janice is survived by her son, Albert Erickson, Jr. of Eau Claire; daughters, Roxanne Brickhouse of Pelion, SC, Lori (Steve) Slayton of Rice Lake and Patty (Dan) Krug of Cameron; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Charles) Bagley and Lani (Russell) Bagley; significant other, Richard Robarge; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Bagley; mother, Hattie Frank; step-father, Ed Frank; first husband, Albert Erickson, Sr.; second husband, Vern Tathinen; son, Roger Erickson; brothers, Ronald, Charles and Russell Bagley; sister, Margie Horel; brother-in-law, Bill (Margie) Horel; sisters-in-law, Lila (Ronald) Bagley and Patricia (Russell) Bagley.
A visitation will be held at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will be held in the spring of 2026.
