In Memory of Jean A. Koranda

March 30, 1955 - July 20, 2025

Jean Ann Koranda, age 70, of Rice Lake, WI, died Sunday, July 20, 2025 in Rice Lake after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family. She was born on March 30, 1955 in Tomah, WI to Albert and Rose Mary (Hart) Koranda.

Jean graduated from Tomah High School in 1973 and then attended CVTC in Eau Claire, WI where she earned a degree in Accounting. She owned and operated Rosie Hart Gifts and Collectibles in Rice Lake, and always had a deep love for antiques. She was currently working for Lawrence Nelson and Associates, and truly loved her work, work family and clients. Jean enjoyed being crafty; beading, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She especially loved helping make grandkid’s doll blankets and halloween costumes.

Jean was an absolute expert cook and enjoyed all her time in the kitchen, never needing to actually measure anything. She greatly enjoyed cooking large meals for her family and organizing parties for birthdays, showers and holidays. Her grandchildren were a priority in life; she would rock the grandbabies for hours, read endless books to them, and give the warmest hugs. Her easy going demeanor was only affected by a Green Bay Packers loss, as she never missed a game.

Jean also enjoyed traveling, especially with family and spending time at her happy place-the lake at the cabin. To know Jean was to know her kind and generous heart. She frequently donated her time and resources to charity. She donated to Toys for Tots each and every year, crocheted and donated hats, and volunteered her time for the Rice Lake Main Street Association and Red Cross Blood Mobile for many years.

Jean will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was a devoted and loving Mom, Grandma, and friend. She would do anything to help the people she loved, and would warm your heart and soul with her conversations, smiles, homemade soups and hugs.

She is survived by 4 children and their spouses; 8 grandchildren; a sister; 3 brothers; godchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother.

There will be a visitation at Appleyards Home for Funerals in Rice Lake on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025 from 4-7pm with a Celebration of Life service after at 7pm. Burial will follow on Wednesday, August 6th at 3:00pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tomah, Wisconsin. All friends and family are invited to join in a meal after the burial at the KC Hall in Tomah.
