In Memory of Jeanette R. (Jones) Butterfield
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our sweet mother. Jeanette Rose (Jones) Butterfield, 89, who passed away on May 25, 2026 in Duluth Minnesota with family by her side.
Jan was born the seventh of eight children to Albert and Leona (Burlingame) Butterfield of Hayward WI on June 13th, 1936. She met and married the love of her life, Chester Philip Butterfield, in 1958. Together they worked side by side for Penta Wood Products and raised a family. Jeanette loved the outdoors. She could often be found tending to her many flower gardens, as well as singing, dancing, and collecting dolls.
Jan was a proud member of the VFW and the First Presbyterian Church in Gordon. She devoted many years to singing in her church choir and was also a member of a female barbershop chorus called the Woodtones. Jeanette was loved by those that knew her and she will be sadly missed by all of us.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her siblings, her parents, and her beloved husband of 60 years Chester.
Jeanette is survived by her four children: Cheryl (Jim) Searle, Clara (Rick) Hill, Charlotte Behn, and Edward (Renee) Butterfield; eleven grandchildren: Chris Hill, Deana (Luke) Sandberg, Rick Hill, Mike Searle, Rosie Searle, Emily (Gunnar) Peterson, Angela (Billy) Brouse, Joey (Samara) Searle, Alan Behn, Andrew Behn, and Jenny (Tim) Motschman; 26 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
