In Memory of Jennifer Tacheny

May 14, 1987 - March 5, 2022

Jennifer “Jenni” Marie (Backes) Tacheny, 34, of Osceola, WI passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 5th after a courageous 9 month battle with Desmoplastic Melanoma.

Jenni was born May 14, 1987 in St. Croix Falls, WI to parents Sheri Backes and Dwayne Anderson. At the young age of 11, she began working for John Bonneprise as a Sunday morning paper assembler. She continued this job on and off for 20 years, dedicating many Saturday nights working in his garage.

She spent her formative years in the Osceola School District, graduating in 2005. While in high school, Jenni joined the power lifting team and set a school record for her weight division. Her love of competition and her determination led her to winning 2 state titles in the sport and forming lasting friendships with her teammates and competitors. She continued her education at WITC New Richmond for small engines and graduated the program in 2014.

In 2014, Jenni married her love and soul mate, Joshua Tacheny, in a small ceremony at North Valley Lutheran Church and renewed their vows with a much larger ceremony in 2017. Jenni brought 2 daughters to this union.

Making memories for her daughters were the most important aspect of her life. Every opportunity to take a photo or save an item for one of her girls’ memory boxes was a must. She was still adding to their boxes up until a few days before her death. She was a fiercely dedicated mother to 4 young daughters, all of whom miss her immensely.

Jenni loved exposing her children to the great outdoors. Their many nature walks would often lead to the discovery of some animal that needed help. An avid turtle lover, she could easily have caused a 5 car pile up while attempting to help a turtle cross the road. After bringing them home and checking their health, she would return them to a local body of water and release them. Her real animal love though was for her 3 little dogs (Snoop, Maggie and Puppeez), frequently bringing them on car rides to the river or on their nature walks.

She had a very close bond to her grandma Marylin, whose death in Oct 2021 profoundly affected her. Grandma encouraged her to continue medical procedures and treatments that she was afraid of doing but ultimately eased her anxiety and pain. She also had a special connection to her uncle, Jeff Backes who she shared the experience of brain surgery with in 2021.
Never one to have a filter, you knew where you stood with Jenni. Her personality was over the top and she told it like it was, like it or not. She was brutally honest, topped off with a dash of charm and charisma. Her laugh was infectious and her love for family and friends were deep. There will never be another like her!

Jenni is preceded in death by her father, Dwayne Anderson; grandparents, Everett and Marylin Backes, Walt and Sonia Meyer, Stuart and Penny Anderson; uncle, Scott Backes; cousins, Jesse Eveland, Tyler Moss, Matt and Mike Lee and baby Sylvia Pieper.

Jenni is survived by husband Josh Tacheny; daughters Kyra, Kayli, Katrina and Kendall; parents, Sheri and Tony Anderson; brothers; Nick (Elizabeth) Lehmann and Cody (girlfriend, Mariah Schwankl) Lehmann; sisters, Jessica Powers (Joe Nicholes), Téa Anderson (Mitch Nunke) and Kayja McFarlane; grandparents, Kay and Joann Anderson; uncles, Jeff (Tracy) Backes, Kyle (Heather) Backes, Dani (Karen) Backes, Brant (Jamie) Backes, Bruce Backes; aunt, Jen Kretman; mother-in-law, Linda Fisk (Joel); father-in-law Randall, Tacheny; sisters-in-laws, Amy (Phil) Riemenschneider, Shelly Tacheny and Kyle Kelly; nephews, Lucas, Parker, Liam, Evan, Larson, nieces Abby, Nora, and Esmae; God parents, Milda Gustafson, Jeff and Tracy Backes; great aunts, Sharon, Jean, Millie and Betty; great uncles, Jim and John; special soul sister, Caroline Story; school friends, Vicki, Jami, Brittany, Lora, Alysse, Aliena, Deb Kobs and Peggy Weber for making the family Christmas spectacular and numerous cousins and friends.
