Joanne was born June 24, 1934, in the town of Round Lake, Sawyer County, daughter of Harvey and Mary (Behn) Emery. On September 2, 1951, she joined in marriage to Lawrence Lamphear. They lived in the Town of Stinnett, Washburn County for 53 years, where she served as Town Clerk for several years. They were blessed with two sons, James and Michael. When they went to school, Joanne went to work at Inhoff Drug Store where she worked for many years. She then went on to work at People’s National Bank as a teller for over 19 years.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she served on the church council, taught Sunday School, was treasurer for the church women, sang in the choir, and quilted with the ladies. Joanne also served on the Hayward Community School Board of Education for 12 years, during which time the High School had been built some 40 years ago.

Joanne is survived by her two sons, James (Connie) Lamphear of Trego and Michael (JoJean) Lamphear of Hayward; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Cunningham of Rosemont, MN, Toni (Josh) Lamphear of Hayward, Kimberly (Jason) Nowak of Hayward and Ryan (Lacy) Lamphear of Watertown, WI; great-grandchildren, Carter and Taylor Lang, Maci Jo Nowak, Kaden and Kendall Knight, Nadia, Marcella and Max Lamphear; four step-grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren, Trevor (Sarah) Bruce, Adalyn, Landry and Leighton, Franklin, TN Jordon (Corey) Bruce, Harlow and Roo, Chippewa Falls WI. Casey (Trey) Martin, Moxey and Tex, Scottsdale, AZ. Courtney (Mike) MacDonald, Lennox, Lachlan, Oakley and Onnaley, Mooresville, NC. Brother, Charles Kludt of New Brighton, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence; stepdad, John Kludt; three brothers; a sister; and two nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, January 24, 2026 followed by a service at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church ( 10680 Main St Hayward WI). Interment will be next to her husband in the veteran’s section of Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward WI at a later date.
