June 25, 1934 - November 11, 2017

Joe Strenke, age 83, a resident of Minong, died at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, November 11, 2017.

Joe Raymond Strenke was born on June 25, 1934, at home in Chittamo, to parents August and Charlotte (Richard) Strenke.  He attended school in Minong, and lived in Minong his entire life, with the exception of a brief time when he worked in Janesville.  He managed the Lewis Cranberry Marsh and was a self-employed carpenter.  He had a fond interest in watch repair and of course the pickin the guitar which bought a lot of groceries! Joe also enjoyed reading, picking berries, baking pies, and collecting stamps and coins. 

Joe is survived by his children: Sue (Gerald Sr.) Brock of Cameron, WI, Linda Olson of Sarona, WI, Gary (Carol) Strenke of Minong, WI, Mary (Dave) Van Wert of Gonvick, MN, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sisters: Marie, Shirley (Don), and Rose. 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; brothers George, Harvey, and Richard; and sister Beatrice. 

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, from 12 noon-2 pm followed by a memorial service at 2 pm at the Frog Creek Town Hall, N13010 Frog Creek Road, Minong, WI.
