John Alvin Smith, age 71, of Lac Courte Oreilles, WI, passed away, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Vita Care Assisted Living Center in Hayward, WI.

John was born on November 2, 1954, in Hayward, WI, the son of Agnes (Barber) and Henry Smith Sr.

He is survived by his brothers Lawrence Smith, Tom Smith Sr. & Don (Carol) Smith; many nephews & nieces.

John is preceded in death by his parents Henry & Agnes; brothers Henry Smith Jr., Edward Smith, Robert Smith, Theodore Smith, William Smith; and sisters Myrtle Thayer, Doris Garvey & Selma Buckwheat.

Tribal Funeral Rights will begin at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, June 21, 2026, at New Post Community Center. Burial will be at New Post Cemetery. Visitation will begin at sundown, Saturday, June 20th at New Post Community Center.

Casket bearers will be James Gakicke, Josh Kingfisher, Donny Morrow, Mark Thayer, Tony Thayer & James Wilson IV.
