John Stanley Bush, age 93, of Spooner, died Monday, July 22, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, at Our House Memory Care in Rice Lake, WI.  John was born on May 27, 1926 to Stanley and Lenora (Langer) Bush in South Fork, near Hawkins WI, where he attended school and started his work life, on the family farm, at a very young age.  In December of 1945, John left the farm and enlisted in the U.S. Army.  In May of 1946, he was deployed to Europe, where he proudly served his country, until November of 1948.  While there, he served in six countries and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.  John was united in marriage to Maysel Campbell on August 4, 1951, in Radisson, where they resided until moving to Spooner.  John started his 36 year career with the Wisconsin Conservation Dept., Fish Management Division, on a trout stream project, on Weirgor Creek near Exeland.   Soon, work brought him to Spooner, where he continued to work for the WCD/DNR, until his retirement in 1987.  He wore many hats during his employment there, including; crew leader, fisheries technician, heavy equipment operator, DNR law enforcement, and his last 12 years, as hatchery foreman at the Spooner Fish Hatchery.  These were his most enjoyable years of work, and he was so proud of his team of workers, and the record yields they produced, during those years.  He received several state awards, during this period.  John enjoyed; woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing, travel, cutting firewood, dancing, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by: his wife of nearly 68 years, Maysel, children; Ken (Kathy) Bush of Spooner, Dianne (Gregg) Campo of Fond du Lac, Denise Bush and special friend, Christine Medina, and her daughter, Thalia of Eau Claire, grandchildren; Kristopher (Jennifer) Bush, Karly (Joe) Cairns, Josh, Jason, and Aimee Campo; great-grandchildren; Kameron Cairns, Lily and Olivia Bush, and Bricen Campo, sister, Jean Langlois of Minneapolis, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by; his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and great-grandson, Logan Campo.

The family would like to give thanks to the staff of Our House Memory Care and Lakeview Medical Hospice in Rice Lake for the great, compassionate care given to John in his final days.  A celebration of life will be held for John on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at The Spooner Wesleyan Church with Pastor LeRoy Drake officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial with full military honors will be at The Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
