John "Butch" Fred Schaffer, age 80, of Sarona, went home to his heavenly father on February 27, 2025, after a long, hard-fought illness.

John was born in Clayton, WI on July 22, 1944 to Victor & Jean (Dietrich) Schaffer. He married Evelyn Flanagan on November 30, 1966. They were then blessed with two children.

He worked over 25 years for the State of WI Department of Transportation. John truly loved spending time with his family. He also very much enjoyed being outdoors, from walking in the woods to hunting, cutting firewood, to ice fishing - he loved it all.

John's faith in the Lord got him through some long days and nights during his illness.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Michelle (Trent) Hodgkins; son, Kyle (Amy) Schaffer; grandchildren, Taelor (Marshall) Grey, Allie (Grant) Schuenke, Emme (Dravyn) Klefstad, Jackson (Jenna) Schaffer; great-grandchildren, Annie Klefstad, and Fletcher and Sullivan Grey; brother, Barry (Sherrie) Schaffer; and aunts, Verna Cotch and Goldie Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Jean; two sisters, Nancy Johnson and Marcia Johnson; nephew, Reggie Levy; and niece, Tammy Levy.

A Celebration of John's life will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 2 PM - 5 PM at Whitetail Ridge in Sarona, WI.
