In Memory of John E. Lindblom
John Edwin Lindblom was born on February 18, 1944 to Edwin and Helen (Pribil) Lindblom in Grantsburg, WI, and passed away July 13, 2025 in Amery, WI.
He attended Branstad Elementary School through grade 8 and graduated from Grantsburg High School in May 1962.
When he was young, John liked to read, hunt, trap, and taught himself to play guitar. He spent most of his time going to the woods with his Dad. Starting at age 6 he would get a penny a stick for peeling poplar. By age 14, he spent his savings on a chain saw and was able to really start making money.
He enjoyed working on cars and started racing in 1962. He built his own cars and motors, and raced until 1985.
In 1968, John married Marguerite Fjorden and they bought a home in Frederic. They had one son, John Jr.
Outside of racing he had many interests. He always had a large garden, liked to hunt and fish, and in his later years he raised German Shepard puppies. He even built their own home in 1999.
John had many jobs. Besides logging, he worked as a machinist, a mechanic, and even sold life insurance. In 1981, he and his best friend, Bob King, started their own business called Viking Automotive. It was very successful, and they sold it in 1985.
This allowed John to go back to logging. This time he stayed in the business for himself. He bought equipment, purchased his own timber, and did all of the cutting and skidding. He did very well and retired at age 62.
John is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Helen (Pribil) Lindblom; in-laws Harold and Margaret Fjorden; sister Rosemarie Markgraf; sisters-in-law Lucille Fjorden Jaeger and Bonnie Hansen Fjorden; brothers-in-law James Fjorden, Warren Bunge, Jerome Jaeger; uncles Joe Pribil, John Pribil, and George Lawrence; aunt Rose (Pribil) Lawrence; baby boy Eliason; nephews George Fjorden Jr., Stephen Eliason; niece Cheryl Jaeger Henson; great-niece Micaela Eliason Kurkowski; and great-nephew Daniel Eliason.
