In Memory of John K. Wyatt


December 20, 1939 - March 29, 2026

John Karl Wyatt, born December 20, 1939, entered eternal rest on March 29, 2026, in Rice Lake, WI. He was the son of L.W. “Pete” Wyatt and Elna (nee Korting) of Luck, WI.

John’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was baptized at West Denmark Lutheran Church and confirmed at Luck Lutheran Church. He attended Luck Public Schools, graduating in 1958, and pursued higher education at Eau Claire State College, earning a teaching degree in 1962.

John began his career teaching history at Whitehall High School before furthering his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Education Administration in 1965. His dedication to education led him to serve as a teacher and principal at various schools across Wisconsin. Notably, he served as History teacher and football coach in Pittsville, Principal in Amery for 20 years and later as Superintendent of Schools in Bangor until his retirement in July 2005.

John considered it a blessing to dedicate his professional life to nurturing the educational needs of young people within Wisconsin Public Schools. John met Elaine Riek, whom he married on November 6, 1971, at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with two sons: Jeffrey Andrew Wyatt (born 1975) and Michael John Wyatt (born 1980).

He is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Wyatt; son, Jeffrey & Monica and their children, Caden, Madison and Calvin; and son, Michael & Mandy and their children, Tye and Taylor; as well as his sister, Susan Erickson; and brother-in-law, John Erickson.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Hallquist. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, WI, Rev. Jeff Seelow officiating, with interment in the West Denmark Lutheran Cemetery in Luck, WI. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church.
