In Memory of John M. Sundeen

April 26, 1954 - April 23, 2025

John Michael Sundeen, age 70, of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2025, just days before his 71st birthday, due to an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Born on April 26, 1954, John grew up in Harris, Minnesota, and attended school in North Branch. After graduating high school in 1972, he proudly served his country, first in the United States Marine Corps until 1974, and later in the United States Army from 1980 to 1991. As a tank mechanic, John was stationed in Japan, Korea, and Germany, where he served with distinction.

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, John worked as a machinist, applying his mechanical talents in civilian life. He moved to Clear Lake, Wisconsin, in 1998, where he built a quiet and meaningful life surrounded by the things he loved most.

John had a deep appreciation for nature and history. He enjoyed snowmobiling in the winters, antiquing through small-town shops, tending to his garden in the warmer months, and watching the birds that visited his backyard feeders year-round.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melville and Anita Sundeen, one sister, and one brother. He is survived by his loving spouse, Becky Nelson; his son; three stepchildren; four grandchildren; Jacob, Emma, Wyatt, and Wiley. He also leaves behind his sisters, Maggie and Linnea.

John will be remembered for his steady presence, generous spirit, and deep love for his family.

A private service will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John’s name to a veteran’s charity of your choice.
