In Memory of John Turba

March 12, 1947 - November 30, 2021

John Lawrence Turba, 74, of Turtle Lake died, November 30, 2021.

He was born March 12, 1947 in Eau Claire, WI to Lawrence and Virginia (Goodman) Turba.

John graduated from Regis High School (Eau Claire) in 1965 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He was a proud member and veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he spent time stationed overseas and made some lifelong friends.

John married the love of his life, Kathy Germain, on October 26, 1974 in Merrill, WI.

He worked for the USPS for about 30 years and was the Postmaster in Cumberland from 1988-2002.

In 2000, John and Kathy moved into a house they built on Little Horseshoe Lake in Turtle Lake, WI, a remote location that John had always called his dream home and perfect spot for living in retirement.

John’s passions were family first – he was proud of his kids and grandkids and was a loving and loyal husband, recently celebrating 47 years of marriage. He had a passion for sports and was an avid, competitive bowler, golfer, card player, and always enjoyed watching every Packer / Badger / Brewer and Buck game that he could. John also attended a countless number of his kids’ concerts, ballgames and events. As a member of Cumberland Golf Club for many years, John gained some lifelong friends, cherishing his time with them on and off the course. His loyal, friendly demeanor and incredible sense of humor will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters: Liz (Ward) Miller, Mary (Jake) Theivagt; son: Joe (Amy) Turba; grandchildren: Connor, Callie, Baylor, and Elizabeth; siblings: Pat Luedtke, Larry (Nancy) Turba, Kathy (Randy) Stanke, and Jan Piltz; nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.
