In Memory of Jon E. Luebke
Jon Ernst Luebke, age 69, of Hayward, WI, passed away on September 7, 2025.
He was born on March 27, 1956, in Oakland, California, the son of Delbert and Eleanor Luebke. He was raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin where he would obtain his Associate Degree in Data Processing and meet his future wife Cheryl (Skrzypchak). They were married in Wausau, WI on December 29, 1983 and would go on the have a daughter.
Jon was genuinely content with the simplicities in life. Early on, he enjoyed motocross, working on vehicles, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a resident of Round Lake for some time, allowing him to take part in Hayward’s Musky Festival fishing contests frequently. He found satisfaction in delving into the history of the Hayward area and used his knowledge to explore Sawyer County for old settlements and discover relics of the past. He especially enjoyed taking company with him on his treasure hunts. Later, he settled near Seeley, where he would spend the winters solving genealogy mysteries and the summers shaping his land into a beautiful garden filled with fruits, vegetables, and many flowers. Gardening was Jon’s true passion. One of his most fulfilling moments was being able to provide the setting for his daughter’s wedding and later watching his grandchildren roam the rows of greenery in search of the perfect pumpkin. Nothing made him happier than when family or friends would stop by for a quick chat and a tour of his hard work.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Eleanor Luebke, as well as his beloved wife, Cheryl.
He is survived by his daughter, Jonyl (Casey) Okamoto; his brother, Peter Luebke; his sisters, Vicki Luebke and Karen (James) Sigl; and his grandchildren, Ellis and Benjamin Okamoto.
No public services are planned at this time for Jon.
