In Memory of Jon R. Peterson
Jon Robert Peterson, age 81, a resident of Trego, Wisconsin passed away on July 9th, 2024. He was a passionate advocate for his community with a strong love for his family, friends and the outdoors.
He was born in Superior, WI on March 4th, 1943, to Earl and Janice Peterson. He attended school in Trego and graduated from Spooner High School in 1962. Shortly after, Jon met the love of his life Dorraine. Meeting in a music hall, where they shared their passion for old time country music and polka. They were married on March 14, 1964. They continued to establish their footprint in the town of Trego, WI raising their two children Kelly and Doug.
His love for the outdoors spilled into his long-time career for the WI DNR in the Fish Management Division overseeing the Spooner Fish Hatchery and retiring at the age of 58. He spent many years coaching with the Spooner Hockey Association, having a profound impact on the lives of the local youth. He was also involved with the High School Rodeo, and he won numerous trophies and awards. He went on to enjoy his favorite places in the outdoors while also spending time with his family and friends that he lovingly adored.
He will be remembered most for his honesty, devotion, kindness, knowledge and deep support and love for his family, friends and his community. He had immense pride for his grandchildren along with his great-grandchildren Lainey, Myles and Lilah.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Dorraine Peterson, Daughter Kelly (Larry) Turner, Son Doug (Terri) Peterson, Grandchildren Tyler (Samantha) Hanson, Alyssa (Patrick) McDonald, Koehler Lange, Jack Peterson, Blake Peterson. Sister Jill (Barry) Mickelson, Brother Gary (Jacki) Peterson, his cherished great-grandchildren and many nieces’ nephew’s and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and nephew Andy.
He will be deeply missed by everyone whose life he touched.
A funeral service will be held at Bratley-Nelson Funeral home and Crematory in Spooner, WI at 11:30 am on Friday July 19th, 2024. With a visitation from 9:00am to 11:30am.
A luncheon will be provided after from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at The Prime in Trego, WI.
