Joseph Charleton Smith, 91, died on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Care & Rehab - Ladysmith.

Joe is survived by daughters, Leah (Mike) Newman of Bruce, Laura (Kirk) Reed of Naples, FL, and sons Garth (Lori) Smith of Evergreen Park, IL and Garret (Kim) Smith of Kenosha, WI; his grandchildren, Lori (Rick) Villiard, Avery (Kim) Newman, Andrea Newman, Evan Newman, Naomi (Daniel) Mallard, Luke (Keira) Reed, Miriam Smith, Emery Smith, Hugh Smith and Peyton Smith; his seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Smith; his parents; his great-grandsons Cody Villiard and Emmett Newman; four brothers Hubert, Dalton, Paul, Ralph and one sister Marjorie Brookhart.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 1, at Hope Lutheran Church in Ladysmith with Rev. Christopher Martin officiating. A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 9:00-11:00am. Military honors will be provided by the Bruce American Legion Post 268. Burial will be in the Plum City Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Joseph C. Smith can be made to the Hope Lutheran Church Food Pantry or a charity of your choice.
