In Memory of June Wickman
June Leona (Bushey) Wahl Wickman, 95, entered eternity on 02/02/2020 at her home in Terrace View Assisted Living, Spooner. She was born on September 29, 1924 to Olive Bushey, and later became the daughter of Max Wahl. June had six brothers: Wilfred, Alvin, Henry, Lenard, Max, and Ronald Wahl.
June attended Woodside School, Pipe Lake Elementary School, and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1942. Early in 1942, a handsome guy by the name of Stanley Wickman, came into her life. They met at a dance at the Spencer Lake night club. In a simple ceremony at the Lutheran parsonage, Stan and June became husband and wife on October 21, 1942. They established their home in Timberland; and from their union, they were blessed with three sons. Stan and June were married for 74 years before God called Stan home.
June was a very hard worker. She was a dependable part of the Shell Lake Hospital Staff for 40 plus years. June and Stan went to dance lessons and learned to do the Polish Hop. They would dance twice a week for many years. June especially adored her grandchildren and had a deep appreciation for animals.
She is survived by her three sons: Byron (Sandy Risberg) of Webster, Bradley of Timberland, Bruce (Anne Wolford) of Spooner; grandchildren: Thomas, David, Joseph, Becky, Bill, Bonnie, Bobbi, Craig, and Carrie; great-grandchildren: Taylar, Jordan, Rilee, Chase, Ben, Jack, Erica, Alex, Brady, Brandy, Brooke, Bryce, Cody, Travis, Jared, Shauna, Olivia, Tatum, and Tosten; great-great-grandchildren: Preston and Amiya.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Sue Odegard officiating. Burial will be in Lorain Cemetery in the spring.
June was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
