In Memory of Kirsten J. See
Kirsten See, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was born January 18, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to parents Oscar and Berenice (Larson) Quernemoen.
Kirsten attended West High School in Minneapolis, graduating in 1973. It was there that she met and fell in love with her soulmate, Tom, and the two married right out of high school — a love story that would span a lifetime. They built their early life together in Minneapolis, where they started their family and laid the foundation of a home filled with warmth and laughter. In 1988, seeking a quieter pace and the beauty of the outdoors, they made the move to Osceola, Wisconsin, trading city life for something that suited their hearts far better.
It was in Osceola that Kirsten truly flourished. She found her greatest joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life — whether gathered around a campfire with family, casting a round on the golf course, or cheering on her beloved Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers with the same fierce loyalty she gave to those she loved. Camping and hiking were true passions, and she was never more at home than when she was outdoors, breathing in the world around her. Her love of nature was rooted deeply in her childhood — having spent many summers at the family homestead in Webster, Wisconsin, that place held a special piece of her heart from a very young age. That love of the natural world was also reflected in her deep affection for sunflowers — their bright, cheerful faces a perfect reflection of her own spirit. And of course, no account of Kirsten would be complete without mention of her beloved cats, cherished members of the family and constant companions in her daily life.
A natural connector, Kirsten was a staple at every party — and more often than not, she was the life of it. She had a gift for bringing people together, and music was always close to her heart, typically the louder the better. A deck of cards in hand and good company around the table was, for her, an evening well spent.
What set Kirsten apart was her selfless nature. She cared deeply for others, always making sure every person in the room felt welcomed, comfortable, and accommodated before she ever thought of herself. Her generosity of spirit was not something she wore for show — it was simply who she was.
Above all, Kirsten lived with a quiet, settled faith. She was at peace with her relationship with her Lord and Savior, and that peace was reflected in the warmth and grace she extended to everyone around her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Tom See; her children, Derrick See, Sarah (Chad) Mecl, and Caleb (Marcia) See; her cherished grandchildren, Kennedy Anderson and her children Harlynn and Eddy, Johnathon Peper and his children Macie and Cash, Zach Mecl, Josh Mecl, Ashton Freyson and son Jaymeson, Alexis See, Olivia See, and Blake See; her siblings, Lois Taylor, Linnea Koska, Bradford Quernemoen, and Kari Ervin; other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Berenice (Larson) Quernemoen; and siblings, Fredrick Quernemoen, Brent Quernemoen, and Mia Besemann.
Evening visitation for Kirsten will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola. Visitation time 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
