In Memory of Larry A. Reichert


February 1, 1936 - March 24, 2025

Larry Arnold Reichert, age 89 of Dallas, passed away March 24, 2025 at home with his loving wife by his side.

Larry was born and raised on the family farm on February 1, 1936 to William and Ruth (Hughes) Reichert. He graduated from Barron High School in 1954. He enlisted in the Marine Corps, having been stationed in the Philippines, Okinawa and Japan. He then transferred to the Air Force, in 1975 as an aircraft electrician/ repair technician instructor.

After proudly serving in the military, he worked as a field installer with Chibardun Cooperative in Dallas. He retired again after 20 plus years as an Assistant Manager in 1996.

Larry married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Hanson April 15, 1957 in Center City, MN and together they raised 3 children.

Larry loved many outdoor activities, such as camping, hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling after Margaret’s retirement, they continued to travel and became “Snow Birds “in Texas. Larry earned a 32nd degree Mason/Scottish Rite. Larry served on the Barron school board, Dallas Lutheran Church council, and as village president of Dallas.

With Margaret’s passing in 2006, Larry’s next chapter began when the void in his heart was filled with love from JoAnn Eckstrom entering his life. They were married August 14, 2010. Together as winter Texans, they loved traveling, going to the beach, watching the big ships in the gulf, but one of their favorites was to go on cruises.

Larry was a story teller with many stories and jokes to share with anyone that would listen, seriously. He cherished time spent with family and friends all his life.

Larry is survived by wife, JoAnn; daughters, Rona Johnson of Cameron, Cindy (Bryan) Thompson of Haugen; and son, Scot (Tia) Reichert of Circle Pines, MN; grandchildren, Andy Johnson, Carly (Matt) Havlichek, Matt Thompson, James Rahn, Macy Reichert; step-children, Sue (Gary) Larson of Rice Lake, Kelly Stoner of Sarona, and Scott (Jackie) Eckstrom of Rice Lake; sisters, Arloa Banister and Sheryl Dahlke; brother, Marlyn Reichert; as well as several grand and great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; brothers, Harley and Elton; sister, Helen McBeth; nephew, Kevin Reichert and niece, Julie Jari.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dallas Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning Lunch served at the service in the fellowship hall prior to burial services at Wayside Cemetery in Barron with full military rights.
