LaVonne Ruth (Brown) Anderson, age 87, of Frederic, went to be with our Savior on Saturday, October 2, 2021. She went peacefully surrounded by family at River Pines in Altoona, WI.

Vonnie was born on March 31, 1934 to Floyd and Ruth Brown at home in Spooner, WI.

She was one of six children: Caroline, James, Larry (who died as an infant), Vonnie, Diane, and Kathy. She attended Spooner public schools and graduated from Spooner High School.

Soon after high school she met the lover of her life, Wally Anderson, at the Shell Lake Roller Rink. They were married on August 4, 1953, while Wally was on leave from Korea. They were married 66 years. Out of that union came five children—four girls and a boy.

The couple resided in Superior until 1970 when they moved to Frederic, WI. In Frederic, Vonnie served as the Executive Director of the Housing Authority for 25 years.

Vonnie enjoyed gardening, being a Mary Kay consultant, singing in the church choir, being in the Pilgrim Circle, entertaining all in the Pilgrim Players, cheering her children on in every sporting event, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time at the Mudhen Lake Cabin.

Her door was always open to her childrens' friends and stray animals. To those who were fortunate enough to know her, she was kind-hearted and had a witty sense of humor.

We do not say goodbye, we say “See you in a little while.”

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; her grandson, Seth Moore; her parents, Floyd and Ruth Brown; her brothers, Larry and James; and her sister, Caroline.

She is survived by her children, Dana (Mark) Phernetton, Kimberlee (Mark) Harvey, Tamara (Glenn) Fanjoy, Kristin (Randy) Craker, Kraig (Sandra) Anderson; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Diane and Kathy; and multiple nieces and nephews, and many she took under her wings.

Funeral services will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Frederic, WI on Friday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation starts at 10:00 a.m. Vonnie will be laid to rest at Mudhen Lake Cemetery following the service.
