In Memory of Lenore C. Steffen
Lenore Steffen lost her battle for life and unexpectedly passed away on December 12th, 2024 at Barron Medical Center in Barron, Wisconsin. She was surrounded by family and loved ones.
She was born in Racine, Wisconsin on August 8th, 1937, to Lenore Becker (Pratt) and William Becker. She married Floyd Steffen on June 24th, 1956. She is survived by her sister Carol Beery of Greenville, South Carolina. Daughters Wanda (Paul Stoeklen) Eastman of Ridgeland, Wisconsin, Janet Nelson of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and special niece Connie (David) Ferrell of Clermont, Florida. Grandchildren Patrisa Eastman, Chase Eastman, Colt (Ashley Rogers) Eastman, and Scotty (Lani) Nelson. Great grandchildren Cassandra Eastman, Eliana Harris, Aria Harris, Brantley Nelson, Landen Nelson, Sylas Gray Neubauer Nelson. Also survived by brother-in-laws Art Monnier, and Gordon Anderson of Racine, Wisconsin; sister-in-laws Marcy Shelton of Cape Coral, Florida, Linda Otwaska of Racine, Wisconsin; Mary (Mark) Carr of Knoxville, Tennessee. Many nieces and nephews, and friends also survive her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Steffen, mother Lenore Pratt, father William Becker, stepfather Edward Pratt, nephew Sean Beery, great-grandson Michael Nelson and brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Marvin (Vivian) Steffen, Earl (Lillian) Steffen, Dell Shelton, Tom Otwaska, Jane Anderson, Myrtle Monnier, and Pearl (Dennis) Taylor.
Lenore and her husband farmed for many years in De Soto, Wisconsin, then in Cameron, Wisconsin, before deciding to get into the horse business. For many years, she and her husband owned and operated Rocky Acres Equestrian Center in Cameron, Wisconsin, working with Barron County 4-H Club; hosting training centers and horse shows. She loved cooking for families at the shows. Cooking was her passion and she enjoyed socializing at all the events. In 2006 they retired and moved to Clermont, Florida, where they lived until Floyd passed away in 2011. At that time, she moved back to Wisconsin where she lived with her daughter, Janet Nelson for many years until she was approved for an apartment of her own. She had many loving caregivers throughout the years who helped her in her little apartment in Barron, WI that she was so proud of.
Lenore did not want a memorial service. At a later date, she will be laid to rest with the love of her life, Floyd, at Florida National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
