In Memory of Leon V. Alden
Leon Victor Alden, 84, of Amery, WI, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025.
Leon was born on July 19, 1941, in Frederic, WI, to Raymond and Leone Alden. He grew up on the family farm and attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where he played baseball. For most of his life, he worked as a heavy highway construction worker and was known for his meticulous craftsmanship, helping build the infrastructure of the Twin Cities metro area. He also served for many years as a volunteer firefighter in Shafer, MN.
An avid outdoorsman with a deep love of the woods, Leon had an encyclopedic knowledge of every plant, animal, and contour of the land. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp, and could spot a four-leaf clover from a mile away.
A prolific reader and talented carpenter, machinist, and jack-of-all-trades, Leon had the ability to build or fix anything, combining scrappiness with precision. He cherished his Oldsmobile 442 convertible and Willys Jeep, which he lovingly restored and proudly called his ‘toys’.
A sharp dresser known for his humor, wit, and demure charm, Leon enjoyed playing pool in local leagues and had a knack for winning meat raffles.
Leon is survived by his children Patrick (Jennifer) Alden, Deborah (Lawrence) Alden, Jamie Minnick, Greg (Kim) Alden, Lisa (Sam) Corgard, and Sean Alden; his sisters Judy (Ray) Domagala and Bonnie (Dan) Mattson; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tina Alden, and his parents, Raymond and Leone Alden.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 24, 2026, 11am-2pm, at the VFW, 1503 200th Ave, Milltown, WI.
