Leona Luella Olson, age 90, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at her residence in Birchwood, WI. She was born on February 14, 1934 in Lemington, WI, the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Blass) Engelbrecht. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Oscar Olson Sr. on July 23, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Rice Lake, WI.

Leona spent nearly fifteen years working alongside her husband on their farm in rural Edgewater. She later had a successful twenty-five-year career at Birchwood Lumber and Veneer. She loved quilting, it was good for her soul and provided treasures for many of the people she held dear.

She is survived by her children, Lenore (Ron Kaiser) Appollo of Altoona, WI, Lena (Paul) Leonard of Fayetteville, AR, Linda Campbell of Hayward, WI, Lloyd Olson Jr. of Birchwood, WI and Lisa (Rodney) Applebee of Exeland, WI; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Berman of Eau Claire, WI; her sister-in-law, Anna Stoughtenberg of Elk River, MN; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Leona is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Oscar Olson Sr.; her sisters, Frieda Kamrowski and Margaret Holmes; and her brothers, Clarence, Ervin, Adolf, Rudy and Robert Engelbrecht.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Hayward Funeral Home in Hayward, WI, where visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Stone Lake.
