In Memory of Leonard M. Kromrey

September 18, 1947 - May 1, 2026

Leonard Michael Kromrey passed away peacefully at St. Croix County Health Center on May 1, 2026 at the age of 78.

Born on September 18, 1947 in Osceola, WI, Leonard was the second of seven children of John and Audrey (Larson) Kromrey. He grew up on the family farm south of East Farmington, where he learned the values of hard work and resilience.

Through the years, Lenny held a variety of jobs, from grave digging to farming, but his favorite was owning his own lawn mowing business. He was extremely proud of his latest model lawn mower and of his truck and trailer to pull it.

Lenny had lots of favorites; he liked his trucks to be Chevy, his tractors to be John Deere, and for Monster Truck, it was only the Gravedigger for him! Attending tractor pulls and Monster Jams were highlights for him.

Leonard was very social and seemed to know everyone. He always enjoyed a long visit with his friends, especially Richie and Sam, and he stayed up to date on the local activities while taking his daily coffee at Petro Plus. He was a fun-loving uncle, giving whisker rubs and consistently attending each family gathering and event, dressed in his classy leather vest and cowboy boots.

Lenny liked polka music, and he could never turn down a chocolate chip cookie. He was never known to wear a winter coat, even while ice fishing! Lenny was a warm-hearted and generous bachelor, who was also remembered to be just a little strong-willed! Although he would have gladly mowed lawns until the day he died, in the last years of his life, Lenny battled Parkinson’s disease with the same strength and toughness that he lived the rest of his life.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, John and Audrey, and his brother, Dennis.

Leonard is survived by his brother, Daniel (JoAnn); sisters, Elaine (Richard) Schachtner, Therese (Ed) Schachtner, Rita (Mark) Brummel, and Mary (Steve) Kuehn; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends.
