In Memory of LeRoy Christensen

July 29, 1943 - August 10, 2021

LeRoy Donovan Christensen, 78, of Cushing, WI passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 29, 1943, in Grantsburg, WI to Donald and Lucille (Anderson) Christensen.

LeRoy grew up on the family farm outside of Cushing, helping his dad and acquiring a deep love of farming. He attended St. Croix Falls High School and graduated in 1961. LeRoy accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 12 at Camp Chetek Bible Camp and was active in the Eureka and Milltown Baptist Churches, where he served faithfully throughout his life.

He married Janice Neely on September 11, 1964, and to this union they added four children: sons Troy, Todd, and Kent, and daughter Sally Jo, who was called home to be with the Lord at her birth.

LeRoy worked numerous jobs throughout his life, including at UFE Plastics in Dresser, WI, and as a supervisor in a Forest Lake factory that produced circuit boards. LeRoy and his wife also managed the St. Croix Falls Greenhouse for a short time.

After his father's death in 1967, LeRoy took over the family dairy farm and built a lasting legacy that was celebrated in 2018 with a Century Farm certification. In 1987, he went to work for Andersen Windows, where he worked for 22 years until he retired. During that time he continued to farm the land and raise beef cattle.

LeRoy led a life guided by his faith in the Lord, love for his family, and his devotion to farming. He took great joy watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. He was a dedicated cheerleader at sporting events, a patient teacher, and a steady, loving influence in their lives. He lived his life fully throughout his illness, cherishing every moment gifted to him by the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Sally Jo.

He is survived by his wife Jan, his best friend and true love of almost 56 years; sons Troy, Todd, and Kent (Tara); grandchildren Jordyn (Ethan), Jenna (Chad), Ashton, and Aiden; great-grandchildren Zander, Gideon, and Kaija; brother Bruce (Julie), sisters Judy (Jack) Olsen and Jill (Steve) Smith; and their families, as well as countless friends.

Services will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the family farm, 2440 260th Street, Cushing, WI. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon, and the memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Private interment at a later date.
