Lewis Ira Martin of Sheldon, Wisconsin passed away May 6, 2026, at his home after a short battle with cancer at the age of 93 years, 10 months, 25 days. He was born June 11, 1932, at Sheldon, Wisconsin to Daniel L. and Anna F. (Keener) Martin.

He was united in marriage to Wilma Jane (Byers) Martin on May 19, 1956. They began their married life in Tillamook, Oregon. In September of 1957, they moved to Sheldon, Wisconsin and took over the family farm on Marshall Road. They lived on the farm until the spring of 1991 and then moved a short distance up the road where he lived until the time of his death.

Lewis was ordained deacon for the Sheldon Mennonite Church on July 12, 1964, and minister on June 20, 1970. He was a faithful member of the Sheldon Mennonite Church at the time of his death.

He will be greatly missed by Wilma Martin, his wife of almost 70 years; by his children, Loretta Headings (Delbert deceased), Cheryl (David Miller), Roseanna (Ted Miller), Naomi (John Peachey), Miriam Martin, Loyal Martin (Dorcas), Joyce Good (Jerrel deceased), Mary Ellen (Andy Korver), Dorcas Martin, Luella (Joe Yoder), 41 grandchildren, and 76 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his 8 siblings and spouses, two sons-in-law, and two great-granddaughters.

A viewing will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Shiloh Mennonite Church, Conrath, WI. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 10 AM also at the Shiloh Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
