April 25, 1933 - March 10, 2019

Lila Mae Bagley, age 85, formerly of Barron, passed away peacefully at Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake, on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Lila was born April 25, 1933 in Clear Lake, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Lily (Brackee) Vance.  She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Elim Lutheran Church in Range.  She grew up in rural Clayton and attended Clayton School, class of 1950, proudly earning her GED in April, 1979.

She met and married Ronald Bagley on December 3, 1949, celebrating 57 years together before his death in November, 2006.

In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Lila helped Ron with his delivery business, was a meter reader for Barron Electric, a census taker, kitchen help at Adult Development Center, and she worked with handicapped clients at the Knot Shoppe teaching them craft skills.

Lila was an excellent seamstress and knitter and an avid reader.  She enjoyed getting together with her girlfriends for coffee, a friendly game of penny ante poker, a game of golf, a snowmobile ride and an occasional shopping trip.  Ron and Lila loved to travel, both on their own and with organized bus tours.  After retirement, they became winter Texans, spending twenty winters in Mission, Texas.  There, she was a fierce competitor on the shuffleboard courts and at the card tables.

Lila leaves to celebrate her memory: children:  William R. Bagley of Maplewood, MN; Bonnie (Tom) Pichelman of Almena & Rebecca (John) Schmidt of Birchwood; grandchildren:  Jason Burke, Dawn (Jim Siem) Goettl, Joni (Sam) Sventek, Jami (Joe) Mathison, Janna (Matt) Oman, Amanda (Mike) Trembley, Kelly (Mark Vonderharr) Schmidt and Kerry (Dan D’Arco) Schmidt; great-grandchildren:  Christoffer, Chelsey, Kelly Ann, Natasha, Svea, Soryn, Grace, Griffin, Spencer, Claire, Evan, Ethan, Estan and Ezman; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Earl (Jeannie) Vance of Menomonie; sister, Loretta “Goldie” Mattson of Kasilof, AK; sister-in-laws, Kathy Bagley of Spooner, Janice Tahtinen of Almena, Deloris Vance of Amery, Patsy Vance of Spring Valley and Pam Vance of Mena, AR; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
