In Memory of Lillian Nevin


November 13, 1930 - September 29, 2024

Lillian Nevin, age 93 of Barron, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer with her family by her side.

She was born November 13, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Carl and Amalia (Ruff) Stabel. The only child of her family to be born in the United States. They moved to Almena in 1943. She married Wayne Nevin on May 16, 1953. They had two sons, Gary (Karen) and Larry (Karla).

Wayne and Lillian farmed for 8 years in the Almena area and then moved to Barron. Lillian worked at the apron factory in Barron for 30 years, retiring in 1990. When Wayne and Lillian retired, they started delivering “Meals on Wheels” and volunteering at the museum. Lillian helped with the newsletter at First Lutheran Church in Barron for over 20 years. They did a lot of traveling. They traveled to every state in the US, including two trips to Alaska, Hawaii and many trips to Florida and Cancun.

After Wayne’s death, Lillian remained at Monroe Manor in Barron for over 8 years, which she considered “home”. She enjoyed the many connections she made there, and the numerous activities – especially bingo!

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary (Karen) Nevin of St. Michael, Minnesota and Larry (Karla) Nevin of Almena; nieces, Judy, Carol Ann, Connie and numerous other Nevin nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Wayne in 2016; sisters, Helen Margotto and Charlotte Scheps; and a brother, Eric Stabel.

A funeral service for Lillian will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Barron.A visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
