In Memory of Linda L. (Aaen) Severson

November 15, 1945 - January 19, 2025

Linda Lou (Aaen) Severson, age 79, passed away in her home on Sunday, January 19th, 2025.

Linda was born November 15th, 1945 to Harold Aaen and Thelma Stafne. Linda’s uncle, Norman Stafne, raised her and her brother, Steve Aaen from a young age. She graduated from Prairie Farm where she met the love of her life, Richard (Doc) Severson, whom she considered to be the “wild one”. They were married June 20th, 1964.

Linda’s family meant everything to her and she devoted her life to spending as much time as she could with them. She loved having family over for holidays, making sure that everyone left with their bellies full. You could always count on her having drinks in the fridge, most notably squirt, which was a house staple. If you ever visited them, you know there was always a candy dish too. At one point she used a chicken feeder jar for her M&M’s, but would get mad at Doc when he would take the bottom off because his fingers were too big to fit in the dispenser holes. She always had some sort of cookie, chips ahoy specifically, in a tupperware container somewhere in the kitchen that the grandkids would sneak. She also loved teaching her grandchildren how to make her delicious strawberry jam, and famous oatmeal raisin or chocolate chip cookies that Scott loved so much. No one could make them like she could.

There were many camping, snowmobiling and four wheeling trips taken with all of the grandkids and many friends that were made over the years. One of the grandkids favorite memories on these snowmobile rides was how she loved to share her bloody mary’s.

The grandchildren have so many favorite memories of Linda, especially the annual family trip to Wisconsin Dells for Christmas. At each gas station stop she would buy everyone their own scratch-off tickets and more to include in our “shaker gift” game. Even though we gave her a gift limit. Her great-grandchildren called her great grandma happy because she was always so happy to see them.

She is survived by her son, Scott (Leandra) Severson; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Steve.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doc and son, Brian.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26th, at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the funeral. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27th at the First Lutheran Church of Arland, with Rev. Tim Vettrus officiating. A private burial will be at a later date.
