In Memory of Linda R. Wahlstrom


April 3, 1958 - June 30, 2022

Linda Wahlstrom, age 64, a lifelong resident of Spooner, died on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.

Linda was born on April 3, 1958, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to parents Henry and Ella (Freitag) Gabrielson.

The family moved to Spooner when Linda was 5 months old, where she attended the Spooner Schools and graduated the Class of 1976. At the age of 16, she started working at the Spooner Hospital and Nursing Home, working most of those years as a Dietary Aid, which would span for 46 years.

Linda was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was baptized on June 6,1966, confirmed on May 20,1973, married on June 25, 1983 although later divorced, and the place of her funeral on July 8, 2022.  
Linda loved to cook and had a tradition of having her son Trent and Heidi and the grandkids over for supper every Tuesday night.

She was the Farkle Queen Supreme. She loved playing Farkle, Banana-grams, Sequence and Labyrinth. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting.

Linda fought a courageous 2-year battle against ovarian cancer, spending the last eight weeks in St. Mary’s Hospital and Solvay Hospice House in Duluth and never complained.

Linda is survived by her son Trenton (Heidi) Wahlstrom, 3 grandchildren: Lucian, Fiona, Penelope all of Spooner, 3 sisters: Gloria (Larry) Gunderson of Olivia, MN, Melody (Kevin) Mork of Alexandria, MN, Lori (Ken) Lippert of Danube, MN, 1 brother Gary (Anita) Gabrielson of Rochester, MN, sister-in-law Peggy Gabrielson of Frederic, WI, and 4 nieces and 10 nephews: Todd Gunderson of Danube, MN, Cameo (Craig) Van Horn of Renville, MN, Jacob Gabrielson of Eau Claire, WI, Amanda Gabrielson of Anchorage, AK, Kristofor Mork, Alexandria, MN, Nathan Mork, Omaha, NE, Corey (Catherine) Mork, of New Ulm, MN, Chad Mork, Omaha, NE, Matthew (Meredith) Lippert of Renville, MN, Casey (Kim) Lippert of Danube, MN, Nicholas Lippert of Bird Island, MN, Vanessa (David) Daley of Siren, WI, Audra (Vince) Paul of Fond Du Lac, WI, and Dustin (Kelly) Gabrielson of Webster, WI. Six grandnephews and 8 grandnieces: Tori (Jake Stumpf) of Brainerd, MN, Amber (James) Simmons of Bird Island, MN, Joseph Gunderson of Renville,MN, Samantha Van Horn of Alexandria,MN, Kale Lippert of Danube, MN, Taylor and Madison Lippert of Renville, MN, Ethan and Sutton Mork of Redwood Falls, MN, Layla, Paige and Henry Daley of Siren, WI, Jackson Paul of Fond du Lac, WI and Brock and Scout Gabrielson of Webster, WI. Two great-grandnephews and two great-grandnieces: Tristen, Jace and Liliana Simmons of Bird Island, Mn, and Addison Stumpf of Brainerd, MN.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents Henry in 2009 and Ella in 2005, brother Dan Gabrielson KIA in Iraq in 2003 and grandniece Alexis Lippert in 2010.

Funeral services for Linda Wahlstrom will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 2pm, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner with Pastor Heather Kistner officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, at the Church, from 1-2pm.  Interment at the Spooner Cemetery will follow the funeral.

Casket bearers will be her nephews: Matt, Casey, Nicholas Lippert, Jacob Gabrielson, Dustin Gabrielson, Kristofor, Nathan, and Corey Mork.
