In Memory of Lonnie N. Todd


February 15, 1945 - June 13, 2025

Lonnie N. Todd, age 80, of Shell Lake, WI passed away on Friday June 13, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Lonnie Norman Todd was born February 15, 1945, at his family home in Madge Township of Washburn County, WI. He assisted in breaking horses and enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. Lonnie graduated from Spooner High School and then joined the U.S. Army on December 9, 1965, and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on November 14, 1967, and earned the National Defense Service Medal and the “Expert” rifle qualification. After his time in the service, Lonnie returned to the Spooner area and worked as the woodworking instructor for Ventures Unlimited. In 1970, Lonnie was joined in marriage to Judy Musolf, and together they were blessed with two daughters. Lonnie and Judy were divorced. Lonnie opened Bittersweet Ranch in Madge where he worked as a horse trainer for many years. After his time on the ranch, Lonnie met and had many adventures with Gen Gillert. Lonnie enjoyed drawing, racoon hunting, training hounds, and watching old westerns.

Lonnie is survived by his two daughters, Tina (Tony) Lopez of Clyman, WI, Amy (Lucky) Carlson of Amery, WI; six grandchildren, Allison, Kayla, Hannah, Eliza, Connor and Caleb; three great grandchildren, Bailey, Kannon and Levi; one sister, Cathy (Harley) Wickware of Madge, WI; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sandy Sandler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Albert and Melvin; and four sisters, Theresa, Mae, Evelyn and Carol.

A memorial service celebrating Lonnie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Spooner Funeral Home. A time of gathering will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Interment will be in the Madge Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Madge Town Hall.
