In Memory of Louise A. Morse

November 7, 1927 - January 12, 2024

Louise Anna (Pospischil) Morse passed away surrounded by friends and family on January 12, 2024.

Louise was born November 7, 1927 in South Beloit Ill to parents Louis and Francis Pospischil.

She was a graduate of South Beloit high school, worked at Freeman shoes in Beloit WI and the Wagon Wheel lodge in Rockton Il. Soon after she was married to Charles Morse on July 9, 1949, she was a loving mother of 5 children Ilene, Kenneth, Kevin, Wesley, and Gayle. She loved politics and at one point ran for mayor, commissioner, and school board for the city of South Beloit. You can imagine how proud she was of her sons Kenneth, and Wesley being elected to South Beloit city council.

Louise and Charles moved to Spooner WI in 1976 when the family ran and owned a small country store called Harrietts store and bait shop. During this time many fond memories were made which included fly swatter fights, bagged candy fights and one employee’s (who shall remain nameless) dance of the seven veils. Each of us children had our own memories of our time at the store, Wesley hearing mom yell out” Bait shop! “When the bell rang or Kevin trying to figure out an angle to get out of the store to see April and of course Gayle sneaking out of her second floor bedroom window going down a ladder only to be met by dad. They returned to South Beloit the following year to return permanently back to Spooner WI in 1987, building a home when Charles retired. Alot of their time was spent fishing from the dock on Oak lake with their grandchildren. No matter where she called home, she had a special knack for making friends with her sense of humor. Moments like when she was a two-time winner of Maple Ridges rodeo queen, out doing her daughter in law April who was rodeo queen in 1976. Her ability to make friends was no more evident than her time at Maple Ridge. She swelled our family by getting to know each of her nurses or CNAs and other staff personally and would share that with us. What a great group of people.

She loved cooking for the family which inspired one of her grandchildren to become a chef (Andrew) some of her best memories were spent spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always open to playing a game of hand and foot, Yahtzee, or dominos with whoever was willing.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Morse, daughter in law Laura Morse, Son in Law Art Hanaman, Beverly Sira, 11 brothers and sisters, and many special friends but no one that was closer than Brenda Warnke. She is survived by Daughters Ilene (Hanaman) Morse, Gayle (Dan) Bublitz, sons Kenneth (Cindy) Morse, Kevin (April) Morse, and Wesley Morse. Grandchildren Jason Hanaman, Patrick Morse, Chad and Charlie Bublitz, Mandy Scott, Jennifer Woller, Lacey Donatell, and Andrew Morse. Great Grandchildren Bini, Tolly, Devin, Wyatt, Wesley, Blake, Alic, Axl, Kylee, and Justice.

Services are at Bratley-Nelson funeral home in Spooner. Visitation will be from 12-1pm, with a service at 1pm, on Friday January, 19, 2024.
