In Memory of Lucille “Lu” J. Peet


October 13, 1943 - January 14, 2026

Lucille Jean Peet, 82, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Lu was born on October 13, 1943, to Frederick and Grace (nee Marsh) Adler in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She enjoyed her childhood summers on Lauderdale Lake in Elkhorn, WI, and had many fond memories of the time spent with her family. Lu was a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School and worked at Wisconsin Bell/Ameritech, where she served as a Senior Night Supervisor.

On July 1, 1989, Lu married the love of her life and best friend, Delmar “Dean” Peet, and moved to Barnes, WI. Together they enjoyed traveling, helping others and being with friends and family.

Lu was involved in her community. She was elected Town Clerk of Barnes and then as the first woman to serve as Barnes Town Chair. After leaving politics, Lu started and ran the Barnes Blog, a local newsletter for area residents and visitors.

Lu was also one of the founders of the Barnes Area Historical Association in 2005 and served as Secretary until her death. She loved her home on Pickerel Lake and enjoyed fishing, baking, gardening, and feeding her birds, as well as hosting family and friends. It was her paradise.

Lu is survived by her children, Timothy (Joanne) Behling, Jeffrey Behling (Kristine Farnsworth), and Lisa Behling; her stepchildren, Dean (Mildred) Peet, Vickie Bryant, Louie Peet, and Michelle Ruprecht; grandchildren, Aaron Behling, Heather Berg, Emily Berg, Macy Farnsworth, Del (Hannah) Peet, Matthew Peet, Clint (Alexis Roy) Bryant, Shane (Courtney) Bryant, LeeAnna Jacques and Hannah Anderson; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Delmar, Nora, Mia, Oliver, Wyatt, Charlotte, Gabriel and Cameron.

She is further survived by her sisters, Virginia Schloesser, Jeanne (Curt) Hesselink, Joanne (Roger) Krier, brother-in-laws Lee Peet, Donny (Lilly) Peet and sister-in-law Joyce Rolnik, many nieces and nephews and her dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar “Dean” Peet; her brother, Fred Adler Jr., brother-in-laws Bill Schloesser, Bud Peet and Glenn Rolnik, son-in-law, Wayne Bryant; and her nephews, Brent Adler and Michael Hesselink.

Per Lu’s wishes, there will not be a funeral. Her family will hold celebrations of life in Barnes and Milwaukee, WI. Dates will be announced at a later date.
