In Memory of Lucy J. Bryngelson


July 18, 1934 - August 30, 2025

Lucy Jane Bryngelson, age 91, of Barron, passed away Saturday August 30, 2025.

Lucy was born July 18, 1934 in Evansville, IN.  She grew up in Louisville, KY. She moved to Buffalo, NY with her mom (Bonnie) and graduated from high school there. She met Vernon Bryngelson while he was working on the oar boats on the Great Lakes. They were married on August 13, 1955 in Buffalo, New York. Later, they moved to Waukesha and then moved back to Barron where they resided.

Lucy worked at the King Edward Inn in Rice Lake and then became a full-time homemaker until her kids were grown. Lucy was her kids’ Number One fan. She attended all their sporting events from tee ball and dance through high school and college sports. She was instrumental in forming the Cubs and Comets 4H group and supported 4H for many years. Lucy then went back to work at the Barron Apron Factory and Shopko. She was a member of the Barron County Homemakers. She volunteered her time making costumes for the Barron Spot Lighters, working at the Pioneer Village and making quilts with New Scandinavia WELCA.

Lucy is survived by her son, Robert (Dawn) Bryngelson of Barron; daughter, Jodi Bryngelson of Barron; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; parents; a grandson and 2 stepbrothers.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church in the Township of Maple Grove with Rev. Sara Feld officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at New Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery.
