Marceline “Toodie” Louise Thompson, age 86, of Rice Lake, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Dove Health Care in Rice Lake, WI. Born on May 10, 1940, to John and Vernie (Derousseau) Zieroth. She was raised on a dairy farm and was a 1958 graduate of Rice Lake High. On October 15, 1960, she was united in marriage to David Thompson.

Marceline began her career as a dental hygienist. Later, after her husband became disabled, she worked full-time at Quanex AMSCO Windows for over 30 years until retirement.

Marceline was an active lifetime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Dobie, WI. She was a 4-H project leader and showed dogs and rabbits.

Marceline had a talent for skiing both downhill and water skiing. After her husband's death, Marceline was a trained facilitator for divorced and widowed support groups called “Beginning Experience,” where she dedicated many years to help others. She was a wonderful cook and always had an open spot at her table to those who visited.

Marceline loved to decorate her home for every holiday and to be surrounded by those she loved. She will always be remembered for her card parties, Christmas cookies, Chex mix, and grandkids sleepovers.

Marceline was survived by her children 3 sons, David Thompson (Laura Capes), Peter Thompson, Robert Thompson, and 1 daughter Jane Thompson; her grandchildren, Ryan Thompson, Megan (Josh) Smelter, Hannah Thompson (Cody Warner), Chris Thompson, Chelsea (Derek) Bonney, Dora Cuatt, Liz Thompson (Sean Hanson), Emily (Anatoly) Frisco, Ethan Thompson (Krysti Tomesh), and Tony (Amanda) Demers. 10 Great grandchildren; Shayden, Kezden, Kai, Sam, Celina, Trinity, Olivia, Brennan, Graham and Hattie; brother and sister-in- laws Chuck and Susan Emmons, Harry Haynes, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Special friends; Anita Merchant and Stephanie Peloquin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vernie Zieroth. Her sisters, and brother-in-laws, Dorothy and Roland Hayes, Janet and Calvin Mullen, and Arlene Zieroth. Her in-laws, Dick and Shirley (Collier) Thompson, Fred and Marvel Thompson, Virginia Haynes and nephew Chris Haynes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00PM Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Dobie, WI, with Father Dan Tracy officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held 10:30 - noon prior to the service at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Dobie, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Society, in Dobie, WI or Community Cat Coalition in Rice Lake, WI The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Dove Health Care and Marshfield Medical Center Hospice for making sure Marceline was cared for and comfortable.
