Marcella Ann "Marcy" Benson, 43, of Cumberland died Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Lakeview Medical Center. She was born December 14, 1981, in Cumberland to George and Rose (Lieffring) Benson, was raised in Cumberland and graduated from Cumberland High School, class of 2001. She worked for 8 years at Burger King in Cumberland, several years at Walmart in Rice Lake and for 4 years as a para-teacher for Barron Riverside Middle School. She was blessed with two children, Arianna and Isaiah, and later was married briefly to Steve Markegard. Marcy was always smiling and her kindness and friendship will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Rose Benson of Cumberland; 2 children, the lights of her life: Arianna Thomas and Isaiah Thomas, both of Rice Lake; sisters: Christina (Dick Hover) Benson of Cumberland, Theresa (Bryan) Dawson of Cumberland, Linda Lund of Barron and Kelly (Jim) Slawter of Cumberland; brothers: Michael (Bonnie) Benson of Turtle Lake, Ronald (Michelle) Benson of Cumberland; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marcy was preceded in death by her father, George Benson; sister, Kathleen Stauner; brother, Jim Benson; brother-in-law, Matt Lund and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held from Noon - 4 PM Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Cumberland Tourist Park. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Cumberland.
