In Memory of Margaret A. Mix


May 18, 1951 - September 19, 2023

Margaret “Margie” Mix, 72, of New Richmond, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond.

Margie was born in St. Paul, MN to the late, Charles Stock and Helen A. Klinger on May 18, 1951.

She went to school at Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy in Mankato, MN. After graduation, she went on to the convent where she did missionary work in Guatemala with the nuns. After seeing how the poor lived, Margie decided to attend nursing school. After she completed nursing school she worked at St. Joes Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She also worked as an EMT, and surgical nurse.

She had a small farm in Garfield Township, and back in the 70’s and 80’s Margie would rescue unwanted dairy bulls. Through her life, the thing she was most passionate about was to change the broken foster care system. Specifically, she wanted to get therapists and dual diagnosis centers established in Polk County. Her advocacy will live on.

Margie is survived by her children, Dean (Mary) Sloan, Eric (Greg) Gruber, and Scott (Jennifer) Sloan; step son, Roger Wold Jr.; sister, Mary (Ronald) Romer; grandchildren, Elena, Angelina, Scottie Joe Jr, Tyler and Adam. She was God mother to Monica Hardesty and Michael Fitzgerald. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews and her two grand cats. Margie is further survived by her special friend, Debbie Donahue.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert John; her parents, Charles and Helen Stock; brothers, Charles Stock, Richard Stock, Robert Stock and Raymond Stock and her significant other of 37 years, Roger Wold.

The family of Margie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Lodge of Taylors Falls, Stillwater Hospital, the incredible staff at St. Croix Health Care Center, the amazing team at Lakeview Hospice, and Lola the therapy dog.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery, WI with Father Gerald Harris, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Williamson – White Funeral Home in Amery, WI and again one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial will take place in Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, WI. On October 12, 2023 a Celebration of Life will be held at 11am at the Clear Lake Cemetery, South Avenue West in Clear Lake, WI in honor of Margie.

In lieu of flowers donations in Margie’s name may be made to the funeral home.
