Margaret "Peggy" Tomfohrde, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and librarian, passed away peacefully on July 26th 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, learning, and unconditional love.

Peggy was born on November 14, 1931, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Noel and Lillian Thorpe. She graduated from Auburndale High School in 1949 and completed the Rural Teacher Education program in Stevens Point in 1952. She later earned her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls in 1965. She dedicated her life to serving others through education, first as a kindergarten teacher and later as a public librarian, a role she cherished until her retirement in 2002.

On March 15, 1952, she married the love of her life, Wayne Tomfohrde. Together they shared more than seven decades of marriage, building a family rooted in love, faith, and service to the Osceola Community. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary this past March.

Peggy was the proud mother of four sons. She was also a devoted grandmother to four granddaughters, and found immeasurable joy in her 9 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure.

Peggy was known for her spirit, wisdom, and generous heart. She had a lifelong love of books and believed deeply in the power of education. Her faith guided her life, and she found comfort in the promise of eternal life, even writing words she hoped would bring peace to those she loved after she was gone.

She was preceded in death by parents, Noel and Lillian Thorpe; brother Noel Thorpe; and sister Bonnie (Art) Marti.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; her sons, David, Dennis (Lisa), Scott, and Kevin; granddaughters, Brooke Kulzer (Curt), Erin Stein (Brandon) , Shannon Tomfohrde (Brian Zou), and Molly Derosier (Joel); her 9 great-grandchildren; her sister Pat Kowalski and many other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Osceola United Methodist Church. A celebration of Peggy's life will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Willberg Memorial Public Library in Osceola, Wisconsin, honoring Peggy's lifelong love of learning, literacy, and the community she loved.
